How COVID-19 Digital Vaccination Certificate in Uganda have Evolved..

From the onset of COVID-19 Vaccination in March 2021 in Uganda, there were questions about proof of vaccination in Uganda and all over the world. There was need for proof to show that you were fully vaccinated, accepted across borders. Fast forward, Ministry of Health (MOH) through HISP Uganda created a solution that not only shows you were fully vaccinated but also went ahead to have discussions with the international community to have it accepted globally.

This COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate can be self-generated from the main Ministry of Health Certificate Portal. This certificate is received only one has been fully vaccinated and 14 days after the last dose, according to the website which you can access here. Once generated, the digital certificate comes out as a pdf which you can then print or save a digital copy. It also has a QR code which you scan to verify that the certificate you received is genuine.

We are in 2022 and the Uganda COVID-19 Vaccination certificate is allowed all over the world, thanks to the efforts by MoH. Credit goes to all those involved in the whole process of getting the certificate, the vaccinators, developers, data entrants and decision makers at MoH.

Those who have generated certificates starting from 4th Feb 2022 will see the new updates that were made. People can now have their booster dose printed on the certificate. This has been a swift response from the demands by the international community to have travelers provide proof of booster doses.

Efforts however are needed to make the certificates available to all people when needed. There have been complaints of people missing certificates due to delays in data entry. MoH is doing the best to expedite the data entry process so that Ugandans can access their certificates when needed..
