Airtel Uganda has today joined the Uganda Blood Transfusion Service in celebration of the World Blood Donor Day. This year’s theme is “Give Blood and Keep the World Beating” and we bring you updates of what happened on the event.
“Today we celebrate the world Blood Donor Day countrywide in a scientific manner. This day is a very special day as the world celebrates the most important person, the donor.” said Mr. William Mugisha, the Principal Blood donor coordinator at the Uganda Blood Transfusion Service. He continued to show his gratitude to all blood donors, mobilizers and all people who support UBTS in their blood safety program.
Mr. Mugisha then thanked Airtel Uganda for their continued support and immense contributions they have made. Airtel Uganda mobilized their staff to donate blood, severally participated in the establishment of a contact Centre here at the Blood Transfusion Service headquarters. For the last year, Airtel made a contribution of over 1,500 units of blood in one round.
Sumin Namaganda, the Communications Manager at Airtel Uganda shared her remarks on behalf of Aritel. “We would like to express our gratitude to the Uganda Blood Transfusion Service for allowing us partner together in this calling.”, she said. She added that everyone has had a scenario where they required blood, either for themselves or for a friend or loved one and then called upon everyone who can to go ahead and donate blood.
