TMCGroup, Africa’s leading world class digital health & telemedicine company and the makers of Rocket Health have introduced a new USSD code to ease access to health services. The Rocket Health code, *280# can be used by anyone who has a phone to access services from anywhere at any time. These services include; Doctor consultations, Laboratory tests, Pharmacy products, Clinic appointments. In addition, you can also subscribe to Rocket Health Plans and Chronic Care Management for those who have chronic conditions.
With most telemedicine solutions focusing on smartphones, this Rocket Health code comes on the cheap because you do not need a smartphone or data bundles to access the services. “Most people use USSD everyday with no need for airtime or data making it a perfect channel to access healthcare professionals for every Ugandan anywhere at any time.” Said The Rocket Health Marketing Manager, Dr. Davis Musinguzi during the press conference held on Wednesday, May 5th 2021.

In attendance of the conference also was Paul Mbaka, head Division of Health Information at the Ministry of Health. He hailed the innovation because it included all people and those without smartphones to access medical services remotely.
The USSD also comes to save time and resources for those busy or those that cannot afford to move. “For people who have parents like I do, you have to kill a day to able to navigate the health care system for them to access medical care. We do not think this is necessary with the introduction of the USSD” said Dr. John Mark Bwanika, the Cofounder Rocket Health during the launch.
Another interesting feature about the USSD code is that you can also book services for your friend or family member. All you have to do is add their phone number, make payment and they will receive the requested services. Payment can be either by mobile money or insurance and the insurance supports UAP, Prudential, Sanlam, ICEA, Liberty and Jubilee.
