WhatsApp is rolling out support for voice and video calls to its desktop app. You can now make video and audio calls using your computer. When you are chatting using your computer then receive a call, you will not turn to your phone as before. You will just use your computer to receive the call instead. WhatsApp Desktop calls come as a relief to many WhatsApp users.
WhatsApp video calls work “seamlessly” for both portrait and landscape orientation, and the desktop client is “set to be always on top so you never lose your video chats in a browser tab or stack of open windows,” the firm said. They also began testing this feature with a small group of users on desktop sometime last year.
WhatsApp video and audio calling for desktop however still have a long way if it intends to compete with the likes of Zoom and Teams. With the feature currently allowing only person-to-person calls, the Facebook-owned group promised to quickly work on group calls. WhatsApp processes over 100 billion-plus messages every day and this is because of its many users. These messages have end-to-end encryption and WhatsApp also claims the videos and audios are.
