COVID-19 has brought a change in how we do and access a lot of things including Digital Health Adoption. With the reduction in movement, it led to an increase in the number of patients accessing health through virtual visits, chatbots, and other digital health tools. A lot of information has been collected from healthcare seekers. These include those who are accessing services via digital health for the first time. Where data is collected and information is exchanged over the internet or mobile phone, privacy becomes a big issue. The need for more protection becomes dire because there are many first time users.
A recent study done by Accenture shows that there has been an increase in the number of people using digital health and wearables which had gone down the previous year. The survey covered many topics and also included the perception of digital health. It was discovered that 45% of users only trusted that their information is safe with Tech Companies. 84% believed that their information was safe with the hospitals they visit. Although many of them would prefer to use telehealth, they didn’t trust that their information would be secure while accessing health services online.
Without a doubt, digital health care providers still have a lot to do to ensure their patients’ data is safe. This will improve the attitude towards digital health and increase Digital Health Adoption in all ways.
